Hello everyone and welcome to our blog.
We're so excited to be sharing our permaculture/urban farming journey.
This dream has been germinating for many years, and as life has it, the road to this place has been a long and winding one.
In August of 2020 we were able to purchase our small plot of land situated in a tiny hamlet of the rain-shadow region of the Eastern Mount Lofty rangers.
We wish to acknowledge and respect that we are living upon the traditional lands of the Peramangk people who are highly respected rainmakers, sorcerers, doctors and the fire givers among the other Aboriginal nations.
Our land also has a rich history and connection to David Unaipon - David was an Aboriginal man of the Ngarrindjeri people, a preacher, inventor, wine maker and author. You may have seen him on the Australian $50 note!
After almost 16 years of finding ourselves caught in the rent trap we are once again home owners and back into what we love most - creating OUR nest, gardening, improving our environment, sharing good food, friendship and continued connection.
Our aim is to create an inspiring Food Forest based on the principles of Permaculture... Earth care - People care - Fair share.
We are only scratching the surface of what's to come as we essentially have a blank canvas to observe and nurture back to life. Our house build is almost complete and we are counting the days/weeks until we can be permanently on our land. For now it's every spare weekend on the plot, creating swales, the foundations of our food forest, building fences, gabion walls, and planting trees.
So come along on the journey and let's share experiences, inspiration and hope for a more sustainable future.
Blessings, Teresa & Simon xx
